The Woady Yaloak Historical Society was formed in 1985.  The society researches the area of the former Woady Yaloak goldfields. We seek to document and preserve the history of the Woady Yaloak Goldfields by the acquisition and presentation of documentation

When Oddie presented the Observatory to the people of Ballarat, it became the first municipal observatory in Australia.
