Through European eyes: the photography of Henry Christian (1886-1962)

Kew Historical Society meeting and talk about the photography of Henry Beater Christian (1886-1962) of landscapes in Kew and throughout Victoria in the 1920s. Henry Christian was a descendant of one of the earliest settler families in Kew. Employed at the Kew Asylum as a ‘public servant’, he was a skilled amateur photographer, capturing with his camera numerous scenes in Kew and during his travels around Victoria. The majority of his photographs date from 1920 to 1929. Join Robert Baker, our archivist, as he takes you on an illustrated journey through the photographer’s eyes.
