Lewis Bostock Radford D.D. (1869-1937) was the fourth bishop of Goulburn in the Anglican province of New South Wales, Australia. Born and educated in Mansfield, Notts, England, he won a scholarship to St John’s college, Cambridge, to which he was later elected Fellow. Ordained a priest in Liverpool, in 1893 he served a curacy at Warrington then held livings in Norfolk before accepting the post of Warden of St Paul’s College at the University of Sydney. In 1915 he was elected to the See of Goulburn which included the site for the new Australian federal capital of Canberra. An author of several books, but no armchair theologian, he was involved in public debates on contemporary social and ecumenical issues. His dream was to see an Anglican Cathedral in Canberra.
