Description
SECOND HAND BOOK
Hawthorn and kew were early subdivisions of Boroondara – the Parish east of Melbourne surveyed by Robert Hoddle in the 1830s and named by him from his collection of Aboriginal names. Land allotments changed hands by auction and settlers began building their homes, churches, hotels, and schools. Public buildings were not overlooked, and when the colonial Government was busy selling off Kew land as fast as it could, somebody had the foresight to save the choice site at the corner of High Street
This particular book has 29 sketches of notable buildings in Hawthorne and Kew, both inner suburbs of Melbourne. Alongside each drawing is a short description of their history. There is notable wear and literal tear to the outside slip cover and some scuffing to the corners of the hardcover (please see photos). The interior however is in good vintage condition.
