Description
In June 1983 the Coburg State School Council donated a handwritten book recording the war service of 100 of its old boys to Coburg Historical Society. It had been found in an old storeroom under a pile of rubbish. Fortunately, as it was found in a glass showcase, it was well preserved.
What has emerged from the three years it has taken to complete the research and writing of The Old Boys of Coburg State School go to War is a social and cultural study of Coburg during the war years and beyond seen through the experiences of one hundred old boys of Coburg State School. Their stories provide a microcosm of Coburg at the time: a working class suburb at war.
