Arthur South resided with his family in Stratford during the early 1880’s, his father being the local Anglican clergyman. Young Arthur and his brother explored the town and its immediate are, particularly the Avon River. his memoirs, written many years later, illustrate a child’s uncanny perceptiveness. To quote Dr. South’s own words:” Little did people realise that what was said in front of a small boy would be recorded 50 years later.”
