SUMMARY:KALEIDOSCOPE
DESCRIPTION:This exhibition is biography imagined through the lens of a Kaleidoscope. The viewer is offered fragments of the lives represented here. There is no linear narrative. Each time the kaleidoscope turns\, a different story emerges. There are repeating patterns but different emphases and new ways of seeing\, new reflections\, new refractions. No one story dominates and one story does not fit all. \nin 2021\, during Women’s History Month we launched the RHSV Women’s Biographical Dictionary\, an online resource which builds profiles of women who have been involved in the RHSV over its 113 year history. This project is the work of Dr Cheryl Griffin and from this online resource\, Cheryl has curated Kaleidoscope\, launched in March 2022 by Judi Maddigan\, which looks at the lives of 50 of those important women. \nCURATOR: DR CHERYL GRIFFIN\nEXHIBITION DESIGNER: KATRIN STROHL\nEXHIBITION PRODUCTION: DR DAVID THOMPSON & HELEN STITT\nThe exhibition is opened Monday – Friday (excluding public holidays) from 9am-5pm and entry is free-of-charge.

SUMMARY:Discover Cemeteries at Fawkner Memorial Park
DESCRIPTION:The Greater Metropolitan Cemeteries Trust (GMCT) invites you to the official launch of our augmented reality app\, Discover Cemeteries\, at Fawkner Memorial Park. \nVenue: On site at the Heritage Tearooms opposite the Fawkner Station cemetery entry. \nGetting there: Catch the train to Fawkner station on the Upfield line – Fawkner Memorial Park was designed to be easily accessible by rail. Onsite parking is also available. \nRefreshments: Join GMCT for morning tea. \nRSVP: Please RSVP to community@gmct.com.au by 14 November 2022. \n  \nFawkner Memorial Park is a trove of Victoria’s rich history. The Discover Cemeteries app brings this history to life with animation\, audio\, video and augmented reality (AR). \nAs the first ever use of AR technology in a cemetery setting\, this is a groundbreaking project. AR allows a uniquely immersive experience\, overlaying and blending in with the landscape through the screen of your phone. Two self-guided tours of Fawkner Memorial Park show the resting places and stories of ordinary people who led extraordinary lives. \nGMCT is proud to partner with the Melbourne-based studio Creativa on this visionary project\, showing how new technology can create a modern\, living cemetery where visitors can reflect\, learn and explore. \nThe launch coincides with GIS Day\, which celebrates technology that uses geographic information systems (GIS) to enhance people’s lives. \nDownload the Discover Cemeteries app for iOS at the App Store or for Android at Google Play. We recommend that you download the app prior to the event. \n
