Presented in conjunction with U3A Maryborough Inc.\nDr Sophie Couchman is a Professional Historian and Curator who works closely with communities to tell their stories. She has researched and published in the field of Chinese Australian history for many years and has been working very closely with the See Yup Society since a major fire at the See Yup Temple in 2024. She enjoys sharing history through a range of mediums such as exhibitions\, walking tours\, oral histories and online resources. \nDr Sophie Couchman’s recent projects include: “Chinese Australian Whispers” podcast (2025) and a co-written family history The Old Reliable Firm: Good Workmanship Guaranteed (2025). Sophie also endeavours to contribute the communities she works in. SUMMARY:RACS Tour: Changes Over Time
DESCRIPTION:The tour will show how surgery has changed over the years through the evolution of ideas and discoveries in medicine. \nThe tour takes in a viewing of the historic Hughes room\, Council room\, Kolbe room\, Hailes room\, surrounding corridors and the Museum. The items of interest are the Presidential portrait collection throughout the College\, some of which have been painted by prominent artists and have been entered in the Archibald Prize. We have one that was the winner. \nOther items of interest are the historic furniture\, significant mementos to the College\, surgical instruments\, and the built heritage of the College.
