About this objectGlass slide of a watercolour by Liardet that depicts the settlement on the Yarra River in Melbourne. John Batman's house and the Lamb Inn are among the buildings in the background. There is an adjoining vacant block of land, with only tree stumps. Two vessels and the Yarra River are in the foreground. Several workers are loading cargo on a horse-drawn cart. There is also a second horse-drawn already fully loaded.
One of many glass slides purchased from retailers or specifically made for illustrated lectures given by Isaac Selby between c. 1930 and c. 1955 to raise money for the Old Pioneers Memorial Fund.
