The Royal Historical Society of Victoria welcomes expressions of interest from people who share a passion for Victorian history. Volunteers contribute to the RHSV’s mission by assisting in areas such as research, collections management (archives, library, cataloguing), logistics, marketing, the bookshop and administration.

Librarian / Library Technician

Jillian Hiscock, our Collections Manager, is always looking for volunteers with library skills and experience. She says …

If you like order and making sure that items in a collection are findable, we are looking for volunteers familiar with library operations, as a librarian or library technician to work with and assist the Collections manager to :

  • Accession, catalogue and maintain collection records [books, manuscripts, ephemera, scrapbooks, etc.]
  • Assist with maintenance and care of the collection and the library
  • Source and shelve according to the DDC or other storage systems
  • Project work, e.g. stocktake and house scrapbook collection
