About this objectGlass slide of a photograph depicting this cathedral which is located on Eastern Hill in Melbourne, in an area bounded by Albert Street, Gisborne Street, Lansdowne Street and Cathedral Place.
Designed by William Wardell in the Gothic style. It was built in stages between 1858 and 1940, consecrated in in 1897, and the spires were not added until the 1930s.
The northern view from Cathedral Place toward the western entrance side of the building. In the background to the right hand side of the building is St Patrick's College which was demolished in January 1971.
One of many glass slides purchased from retailers or specifically made for illustrated lectures given by Isaac Selby between c. 1930 and c. 1955 to raise money for the Old Pioneers Memorial Fund.
