About this objectThis image of the front façade of the Supreme Court of Victoria building, which is located on the east side of William Street between Little Bourke Street and Lonsdale Street, has been viewed from the opposite side of William Street.
The building was constructed between 1874 and 1884 in the Renaissance Revival style. The architects were Alfred Louis Smith and Arthur Ebden Johnson.
An unusual, twice life size, bronze figure of Lady Justice can be seen above the entrance to the court on the left of the image. The dome delivers light to the Supreme Court Library.
One of the many glass slides purchased from retailers or specifically made for illustrated lectures given by Isaac Selby between c. 1930 and c. 1955 to raise money for the Old Pioneers Memorial Fund.
