About this objectA historical and architectural study of the central business district of Melbourne, "Area 2", bounded by Flinders, King, William and Latrobe Streets. The study was conducted for the Historic Buildings Preservation Council of Victoria, 1976. Includes photographs and drawings.
Section A: architectural and historical findings on individual buildings.
Section B: streetscapes and environmental areas.
This illustrated study was part of a larger project of seven studies commissioned by the Historic Buildings Preservation Council of Victoria [Heritage Victoria] to document heritage buildings in central Melbourne. Each study was by a different heritage consultant or firm and aimed to provide the classifications sub-committee with relevant architectural and historical information to support registration of significant buildings.
The Butler Collection is a large archive of conservation studies, research files, photographs and related reference material.
