About this objectSet of papers listing historic places on the Register of the National Estate that are located in Victoria.

The Register was created under the Australian Heritage Commission Act 1975. From 1976 until 2003 the Register was compiled and maintained by the Australian Heritage Commission, it listed natural and cultural heritage places of significance. Phasing out began in 2003, when the Australian National Heritage List and the Commonwealth Heritage List were created and by 2007 the Register had been replaced by these and various state and territory heritage registers. The material in this set was researched and compiled by conservation architect Allan Willingham. The papers are in final draft form, and commonly feature a building citation, list of information sources and may include colour photographs of the site.

The papers are arranged by the local government area at the time of the listing, with their own numerical code. The first three folders are indexes to the set. The papers are housed in two archive boxes.
