About this objectCollection of material relating to Geoffrey Ernest Walker who worked as a Licensed Private Inquiry Agent during the 1960s. The name of the detective agency was Abbey Detective Agency and also Broadway Mercantile Agency. Working in mostly the Eastern suburbs of Melbourne he and his staff undertook investigations for divorce cases, the collection of debts, the repossession of cars and the issue of court summons.

MT-029.002.004 to MT-029.002.009 6 deposit slips for The National Bank of Australasia Limited for 1967 in the amounts of $10.60, $29.25, $12.15, $20.00 and $52.00.
MT-029.002.010 Certificate from Institute of Mercantile Agents. "This is to certify that Broadway Mercantile Agency is a Member of this Institute but order of the Committee. Dated 14 December 1967. Reg No. 431.
MT-029.002.011 Loose piece of paper giving the details including description (6'1", medium to big build, hazel eyes, dark hair and wears a gold wedding ring) of a man (police officer). Gives details of the places he served and his known associates.
MT-029.002.012 & MT-029.002.013 Two black and white photographs attached to the above mentioned loose piece of paper show the man (as indicated by an X) and his wife and another couple at the beach.
MT-029-002.014 to MT-029.002.039 Business receipts issued to Geoffrey Walker and Mrs. Stewart and relating to various cases. Includes search fee receipts from the Motor Registration Branch of the Victoria Police and receipts from Government Printing Office, Lady Nell Seeing Eye Dog School and Scarborough School Fund.

MT-029.003.007 & MT-029.003.008 2 page letter addressed to D.A. McKenzie Esq. Licensed Inquiry Agent 63 Midlothian Street Chadstone from F.N Warner Shand Barrister & Solicitors whose address is Box 107 Post Office Rabaul Territory of Papua & New Guinea regarding identifying the man who committed adultery with one of his client's wives. Mr. Warner Shand has requested Mr. McKenzie take photographs of the man who worked at the Lido Restaurant and the said man so that the son of the client can identify him. There is confusion over the man's name and it has been asked this be clarified so he can be named in the divorce
