About this objectThis photograph of the Independent Church, which is located on the north-east corner of Russell and Collins streets, has been taken from the west and south-side of Collins Street. The building has been known as St Michaels Uniting Church since 1971. To the left of the image, the Burke and Wills memorial statue in the streets' intersection, was unveiled in 1865 and acted as a roundabout until 1886 when it was moved to Spring Street to make way for tram tracks.
One of the many glass slides purchased from retailers or specifically made for illustrated lectures given by Isaac Selby between c. 1930 and c. 1955 to raise money for the Old Pioneers Memorial Fund.
