About this objectPhotograph of a drawing of a large single-storey building behind a picket fence. Two pointed roofed wings are either side of a front porch which has a bell suspended above it. Children are playing in the street in front of the school. To the left of this building in the background are the parsonage and St James' Cathedral.
An article in The Argus of May 1857 reports on a discussion about converting St James' School into a Model and Training School for the use of teachers belonging to the Anglican Church. A Model Training School under the control of the National Board was already in operation in Spring Street.
One of the many glass slides purchased from retailers or specifically made for illustrated lectures given by Isaac Selby between c. 1930 and c. 1955 to raise money for the Old Pioneers Memorial Fund.
