About this objectPhotograph of a drawing by political cartoonist Will Dyson titled, "The Need of the Blacks", and printed in the Queensland Times, February 1929.
The drawing shows a semi-naked Aboriginal man on his knees, leaning back on his hands. An oversized mug with the words, "A New Policy", is held to man's tipped back face by a hand with the word, "Australia". Under the caption is printed, "Public opinion in Australia demands a settled, dignified and sympathetic solution of the neglected problem of the blacks."
Probably one of the many glass slides purchased from retailers or specifically made for illustrated lectures given by Isaac Selby between c. 1930 and c. 1955 to raise money for the Old Pioneers Memorial Fund.
