Includes description of native fauna, of encounters with Aboriginal Australians ; official and unofficial accounts of report to police at Roper Bar regarding rumour of murder of the expedition party ; summary of results of expedition party, including maps.
The expedition was financed by William Orr (13 February 1843-6 February 1929) was an Australian politician and mining prospector. According to the Barrier Miner, Orr was 'one of the pioneers of [the] mining industry'.
NOTE: The original journal was written in 1910, the present (1953) is an exact copy with the exception of the geological summary which has been summarised. A number of footnotes, comments and observations were added in 1944 and 1948.
