References to Port Phillip Foundry, and later foundries of Langlands family partnership with Thomas Fulton, George Annand, Robert Smith; public life of Henry Langlands with particular reference to public meeting in the aftermath of the Eureka Stockade; pioneering work of George Langlands in Horsham where he and his family ran the first post office. General references to the family's fortunes and failures in the fluctuating economic climate. Also includes a genealogical history of the Langlands and an appendix on the lineage of Caroline Inches c. 1804-1842 second wife of Henry Langlands.
NOTE: Robert Langlands was the first member of the family to arrive in Victoria. He was a passenger on the ship 'Helen Thompson' which arrived in Melbourne early in 1841.
