George Sinclair Brodie (Snr) was the first government land auctioneer in the Port Phillip District.
NOTE: Included is additional information on the Brodie family history donated by Gerald Brodie (2008). This addresses the confusion between Mary Pain Wood [Payne Wood] who arrived on the 'Strathfieldsaye' (1832) and married George Brodie at Launceston in January 1833 and Mary Pain, who arrived on the 'Princess Royal' in 1834.
