Name/TitleStory of a chocolate : Nott Brothers, confectioners
About this objectThe Nott brothers, Henry and Thomas, arrived in Australia from Bristol in the 1850s and sold their sweets to the gold-fields' miners as remedies for bronchitis. Later products, including hand made chocolates, were distributed through exclusive Melbourne shops, possibly being made in Munro Street, Ascot Vale where the family lived until the 1970s.
Attached to the account are four product labels in mint condition, found in a back-shed and forwarded by a relative of the Nott family, Mrs Wendy Hebbard. The account enumerates the types and flavours of the sweets as well as mentioning the equipment utilised.
