November 6, 2022 @ 10:00 am - 4:00 pm

Connecting Communities
The importance of writing local history and heritage

Romsey & Lancefield Districts Historical Society will be holding its second annual HistoryFest in November 2022.

This event is aimed fairly and squarely at historical societies and their members so do come along and learn from others, and share your knowledge and experience.

Eight Historical Societies in central Victoria are joining together for the day to talk about connecting their communities to the work they do. For decades historical societies have helped their local community, and those more distant, explore their family history and heritage. They also assist home buyers find out who lived in their house before them. The Royal Historical Society of Victoria will discuss the need for local historical societies, their core work, and how the RHSV can assist us. Two distinguished historians – Peter Yule and Richard Trembath – will talk about their experience writing local history and its importance to the history of Victoria. Peter and Richard are engaging speakers and have a great deal to offer our HistoryFest.
And local historical societies will talk about their latest books and latest projects. These books will be available for sale during and at the end of the day while the audience enjoys music and exchanging ideas. Entry at $30 includes morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea.
