Professional historian and Richmond & Burnley Historical Society Vice President, Claire Levi, will talk about Bridge Road’s colourful history and the installation of the historical plaques between Hoddle and Church Streets. Claire worked with the Richmond Council and the Bridge Road Traders’ Association to take the project from concept to reality.

Was a country girl ready for the harsh life of the YWCA Richmond? Doery House, the YWCA hostel at 353 Church Street, Richmond, Victoria, should have been a home away from home for teenage girls from the country residing there in the late 1960s. Alas, this was nowhere near reality. Rosalie Webb, who has written Y Girls Just Wanna Have Fun about her experiences living in the YWCA hostel, will speak at at  Richmond & Burnley Historical Society event.

Our AGM is being held in the loft of the historic Richmond Council Stables. The stables were the home for many of the City’s draught horses. Many won prizes at the Royal Melbourne Show.
