This book provides an account of certain aspects of the history of Port Fairy that are reflected in the collection of the Port Fairy Museum but have not previously featured in other publications.
For instance, it is not generally known that individuals born in the town include an Australian cricket captain; a State Premier; a highly decorated Brigadier-General; a world-famous mathematician; three outstanding World War One nurses; a Logie winner; a jockey who won the Cox Plate, the Caulfield Cup, the Oaks and the Melbourne Cup; and probably the finest Australian Rules player and coach who has ever lived.
