The Bendigo Chinese Association have a famous collection of processional regalia, which have been on their processions since the 1880s. Some of the pieces were not new when they arrived in Bendigo, so some will be older than that date. The Chinese community became involved in the Bendigo Easter Fair, and particularly the Easter Procession, as a way of saying ‘thank you’ for the assistance the Hospital and the Benevolent Home gave to their sick and elderly. Today they are regarded as one of the best collections of Chinese textiles in the world.
