Produced by The Royal Australasian college of Surgeons, this book tells the story of the campaign, the medical arrangements, how war wounds were managed in 1915; and provides brief biographies of the surgeons who served in the Anzac forces. Those included has to have served on the Dardanelles, or in the line of communication including hospital ships, the island of Lemnos, or based at the receiving military hospitals in Egypt and Malta. Also included are Australian and New Zealand surgeons, or specialists who held appointments as surgeons before WWI and/or became Fellows of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons when it was founded in 1927. Biographies for Anzac medical students who later became surgeons; as well as those who practiced surgery in Australia or New Zealand and were Fellows of the English, Scottish or Irish Colleges or whose appointment or practice was substantially as a surgeon.
