Rev Allan Ansell –
There is not a great deal known about St Mary of the Cross’ four years in Portland. This booklet contributes very little to the limited body of knowledge. The author is repetitive. Entire paragraphs are repeated three or more times. There is a lot of ‘padding’ eg a longish snap shot of Portland as it was in Mary’s time during which Mary is not mentioned. Even so, there is such a paucity of historical work on Mary and Portland that it is probably worth buying for the MacKillop completist.
